Shrewley Pools is a working family farm that offers high quality accommodation for those who long for peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings.
The house dates from 1640 and is largely original with exposed beams, beautiful quarry tiled or oak floors and leaded windows. All rooms have views over the garden, lake and surrounding fields. There are fire places in the hall, dining and sitting rooms.
Sheep, bantams and pigs roam outside, timbered passages lead to large, pretty rooms. Charming, eccentric and fabulous for families
A charming, eccentric home and fabulous for families, with space to play and animals to see: sheep, bantams and pigs. A fragrant, romantic garden with a blossoming orchard and a fascinating house (1640), all low ceilings, aged floors and steep stairs. Timbered passages lead to large, pretty, sunny bedrooms (all with electric blankets) with leaded windows and polished wooden floors and a family room with everything needed for a baby. In a farmhouse dining room Cathy serves sausages, bacon, and eggs from the farm, can do gluten-free breakfasts and is happy to do teas for children. Buy a day ticket and fish in the lake.
The Family Room has both king size and single beds which sleeps 5 in comfort with a baby in the cot. It has its own lovely en suite bathroom with high quality towels and toiletries.
Along the polished oak passageway to the twin room. This exquisite room has 2 single beds, a tiny dressing room where a child can sleep on a single bed, whilst giving the grown ups privacy for a good nights sleep. A large comfortable bathroom also lies behind it's own front door. King Size bed in Family Room
The pigs may be glimpsed in the wood whilst ducks and geese fly into the large lake stocked with carp, tench, silvery bream and roach.
The large, comfortable sitting room has lovely family furniture as well as easy sofa and arm chairs, pulled around the roaring fire. Play games, do jigsaws, or read a book with a glass of wine to relax at the end of the day!
The dining room is glorious with clotted cream walls and thick raspberry curtains. An early oak dresser and corner cupboard contain crystal glasses and china whilst a fire burns in the hearth.
Come and sit in the hall, the oldest room in the house and admire the wonderful oak beams and polished quarry tiled floors with Persian rugs. Throw a log on the fire and chat with friends.
Enjoy a farmhouse breakfast, including our own eggs, bacon and sausages or keep it light with yogurt and home made spiced fruit compote! We also do evening meals, children's teas and "pot luck" dinner (you have what we're having!). We use our own bacon, sausages, eggs, pork, lamb, pheasant, pigeon, duck and chicken according to season.
Finally, we have plenty of off road secure parking space for cars, lorries, trailers etc.
